I had a lovely time capturing S&D’s wedding at their gorgeous wedding venue, The Cherry Barn, in Rye. It was an October day but it felt like a Summer’s day, the couple really lucked out with the weather given it was raining every day the previous week and they had planned an outdoor ceremony.
Funnily enough The Cherry Barn is not set on a cherry farm but an apple farm! The barn is located next to the apple orchard where the farm presses it’s own juice to sell at the local markets as well as producing craft cider.
The Cherry barn itself is a huge stunning oak-framed barn, with high timber ceilings and glass windows around, it’s a photographer’s dream with all the light shining though.
While the bride got ready in the White Room, a private room at the back of the barn. The groom was welcoming the guests who were arriving in a vintage bus that they had organised, although there is no shortage of on-site parking The guests were greeted with drink on arrival, and were able to enjoy them with a stroll in the orchard while they waited for the ceremony to begin.
The guests were treated to a delicious 3-course meal followed by the speeches and then the barn was turned into a dance floor. With the evenings turning dark earlier it didn’t take this group long before the guests ascended onto the dance floor and the Photo Booth station. There was also an outdoor fire pit together with marshmallows for those who preferred a more relaxed vibe.
