I was lucky enough to photograph a wedding at the Channels Estate, near Chelmsford earlier this year.

It was a beautiful May weekend, we were blessed with a sunny day but just after the first heatwave of the year so it wasn’t too hot.

. The bride got ready in the Retreat, a luxury holiday barn conversion located onsite which allowed her and her bridesmaids to get ready comfortably.

The ceremony was held outside, the groom being over 6ft 5inches just about fitted under the frame of the pavilion they had to stand under. After the ceremony it was time for the guests to have a drink whilst I took the couple off for a portrait session. There are so many places to have the portraits on the Channels Estate but we decided to spend most of it on the grassy area surrounding the venue, with the long grass and the late afternoon sunny it made for dreamy portraits.

The wedding celebrations carried on inside the Essex Barn; a cosy and rustic space where the guest sat to enjoy a buffet meal with speeches from the father of the bride, the best man and then the groom filing the barn with lots of laughter.. Not long after. we had the cake cutting followed swiftly with the first dance. After the first dance, the guests were eager to get on the dance floor and get the party started, these are the kind of weddings where I don’t want to leave as there was so much happening on the dance floor.
