I was so excited when I was booked to photograph this wedding because it was in a castle! How amazing is that! Hedingham Castle is a Norman Castle on the border of Essex and Suffolk, constructed around 1140 and is one of the best well-preserved keeps of its kind in England. Having a wedding at Hedingham Castle allows you private use of the venue for the whole day, you can have the whole wedding inside the Castle, including being able to stay the night in the Royal Chamber on the top floor of the Castle!
The Wedding party had already stayed the night in the on-site Cottage and Lodge so were very relaxed when I arrived. Staying on site removes the stress of having to rush in the morning and only having to stroll a few minutes to get to the Castle for the ceremony. Don’t worry, the Bride was driven to the ceremony in style.
The ceremony took place inside the Castle in the Banqueting Hall, lit mainly by candles the room was breathtaking. After the ceremony we all went outside for confetti on the Tudor Bridge and while the guests returned to the Castle for the drinks reception I went for a walk with the couple for some portraits on the grounds, we even met the resident cat on our travels and she even came over to say hello. Shortly after returning to the Castle it was time for the Wedding Breakfast followed by Speeches by the Father of the Bride and the Groom. Then it was back upstairs to the Garrison floor for the cake cutting and first dance. A few more family group photos on the Castle Terrace and then it was time for me to leave the wedding party to enjoy the rest of the evening at the Castle as I return home after a thoroughly enjoyable day.
